This introductory-level project management course aims to de-mystify the world of project management, focusing on the practical skills, tools and techniques to help you successfully plan and deliver your clinical research projects.

Delivered as four 1.5 hour live online sessions via MS Teams, each focusing on a different aspect of project management. Each session consists of presented material on generic project management techniques, combined with breakout rooms, where you will discuss the techniques covered in the context of the world of clinical research

No prior knowledge of project management is required.

What you'll learn

Course objectives:  

  • The project lifecycle, and the key factors that influence project success;
  • The role of the project manager, and the skills required;
  • How to clearly define your project, setting it up for the best chance of success;
  • How to construct a robust and realistic project plan;
  • Some of the tools that are available to help you organise and document your project;
  • How to evaluate and manage risks, issues and changes to scope as your project progresses;
  • How to identify your stakeholders, understand their needs, and manage their expectations;
  • Developing a communications plan;
  • The importance of project roles and responsibilities;
  • The need for effective project governance and regular project monitoring and reporting;
  • How to learn from lessons identified at the completion of a project. 

Who the course is for

This is an introductory course aimed at individuals working in clinical research. No prior knowledge of project management is required.

This course is designed for academic, public sector and charity workers and we are offering it at a discounted price for people working in those sectors.
