About the course
In this course, based at the Scottish National Gallery, we will examine a selection of paintings from a thematic perspective, rather than a conventional historical or biographical on.
The theme we will consider will be Love and by looking at five key works you will gain new insights into their social and artistic significance.
We will examine and discuss the way the theme of Love has been portrayed in five major European paintings.
Each class will start with an introduction to the painting followed by a group discussion.
Please note, this course takes place in the Scottish National Gallery (meet at the Information Desk at the Gallery). The venue is fully wheelchair accessible. There are portable seats available for learners who would like access to seating during the course.
Any essential or recommended reading will be advised by the course teacher once the course is confirmed to run. You will require access to a computer or other device with internet connection.
